Redmi Note 3 is Xiaomi’s third ‘Made in India’ smartphone

As a part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, Xiaomi partnered Foxconn last year to manufacture smartphones in India. The Chinese company’s first ‘Made in India’ smartphone was the Redmi 2 Prime, followed by theRedmi Note Prime. Today, Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 3 in India, and while it doesn’t have the ‘Prime’ tag, it is the third smartphone to be manufactured in the country.
The Redmi Note 3 is going on sale from March 9 onwards on mi.com and Amazon India. Xiaomi has launched two variants of the smartphone — 16GB and 32GB, priced at Rs 9,999 and Rs 11,999 respectively. Unlike the MediaTek-powered smartphone launched in China last year, the variant launched today is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 650 chipset.
